Who We Are

MMA-Insider.com was founded in July, 2011 by John Moorehouse. We seek to provide comprehensive, quality, unbiased coverage of mixed martial arts with a focus on regional promotions and up-and-coming fighters. We currently cover events in Tennessee, Virginia, North Carolina, Florida, South Carolina, Alabama, Pennsylvania, Delaware, West Virginia and California, while also providing some content related to XFC, Bellator, Invicta, RFA, World Series of Fighting and of course the UFC.

MMA-Insider does not believe in playing favorites or partisan journalism of any kind. It's our believe that this impartial approach is what sets apart MMA-Insider as a high quality media outlet.

John Moorehouse, Owner/Editor

John Moorehouse is the owner/editor of MMA-Insider.com

Moorehouse brings more than 15 years' experience in deadline journalism to the table. Before starting MMA-Insider, which is a property of Moorehouse Media, he worked full-time for the Kingsport Times-News for almost 11 years. During that tenure, he covered the Virginia Tech football team for one season and the Tennessee Vols football team for seven seasons.

In addition to his duties running this website and overseeing the content and staff, he also works as a freelance writer and is trying to complete his first full-length book.

When he's not working, he likes to spend time with his wife and dogs, travel, and suffer through watching his beloved Chicago Cubs play.

Roy Sanders, Contributor

Roy Sanders is an experienced amateur fighter whose primary responsibility is writing predictions columns for events that MMA-Insider covers.

He's been training and competing in MMA since 2008, participating in 25 amateur fights before recently turning pro, while also raising a family and completing his Bachelor's in Education. A fan of the UFC since his teenage years, Sanders has good relationships with many of the gyms in the Tri-Cities as well as Southwest Virginia. A strong proponent of cross training, he's worked with various instructors in the region.

Randy Stamey, Contributor/Webmaster

Stamey currently trains at Mountain Empire in Bristol, Va., under Chris Massie and Josh Booher, and is an active fighter at the amateur level. He covers live events for MMA-Insider, in addition to contributing preview articles and interviews, and assisting on the administrative duties of the site.

Stamey is married and has three children.

Jason King has been involved with martial arts for over 20 years. He started out as an accomplished traditional martial artist earning his 4th degree black belt in Taekwondo, and then made the switch to MMA in 2008 under Tuco O Tapa and their head coach, Brenden Bohannon. After Jason graduated from East Tennessee State University in 2010, he was able to devote more of his time to training and went on to earn a purple belt in no-gi submission grappling. In 2013, Jason received a management position with Interstate Blood Bank that forced a move to Knoxville, Tenn. This move also allowed Jason to begin training with Knoxville Martial Arts Academy under coaches Eric Turner and Joey Zonar.

Jason currently holds an amateur MMA record of 5-2, and is the current Absolute Cage Fights welterweight champion. King is aiming to make his professional debut in late 2014 at 155 pounds.
